AFF (Adult Fan fiction)

The website Adult-FanFiction.org (AFF) began in late 2002. Ayla Olsen founded it in response to the intense censorship of creative writing content on FanFiction.Net, which began removing all mature-rated content in September 2002. While this did include adult-rated content, it also affected content with LGBTQ+ representation and topics around mental/bodily health that censorship standards at the time considered inappropriate for people under 18. Currently, the site is run by the central admin DemonGodess, one of the two original developers, Manta, and supported by a very dedicated group of moderators.

AFF was created with the specific intention of providing a dedicated safe space for mature or otherwise creative writing content, be it original or fanfiction, that had been removed from other sites. Initially hosted on GeoCities, the site quickly grew, prompting the purchase of its own domain name, Adult-FanFiction.org, and a dedicated server. The site remains active and hosts stories, some dating back to the early 2000s.
