"This is annoying"

"You have to do it Naruko-chan"

"Doesn't mean I have to like it"

"Well..."

"Exactly"

Naruko was standing a little way from the entrance to the ninja academy speaking to Hana who was trying to encourage her to enjoy the test a little, but having little luck in the matter.

The academy sat a little ways to the west of the Hokage tower, its wooden frame painted a soft red that was beginning to fade with time and seasons. The sun was casting long shadows on the ground and the air was still chilled from the night before, Naruko tilted her head back and looked up at the sky as it faded from indigo to light azure with the suns rising. Long slanting rays pierced through the few clouds that were in the slowly brightening vault, the fainter stars having long been overwhelmed by the suns brightness so that only a handful still twinkled above them.

The light was still orange, bathing everything in a kind of subtle warmth despite the chill in the air. The cries of the town's nocturnal animals had long since faded with the rising sun and now birds could be heard calling to each other as they slowly awoke from their slumber. The wind rustled the leaves and trees pleasantly, creating a sound pleasing to the ear.

"Naruko-chan"

"Hmm"

Hana was wearing a white top and forest green shorts that sat fairly loose upon her. Naruko had been mildly surprised to find Hana waiting in front of the school for her, to apparently wish her good luck in the exams. Not that she needed any as far as she was concerned, but the gesture was nice all the same

"You're not listening are you?"

"I'm always listening; it's part of my job"

"Ah, yeah. Anyway, why are you doing this?"

"I need to. Otherwise I need to wait until I'm eighteen to start things"

"What things?"

"You'll see in time"

"Tell me"

"There's no point in looking at me like that, no matter how much you pout or look cute I'm not going to tell you. It's a surprise"

"You're so mean"

"Hmm, that's not what you said when I turned up at your work unannounced"

"Uh"

Hana blushed bright red as she recalled that night; she shifted uneasily as Naruko watched her

"Hmm, now that I think about your rather cute when you're flustered"

"W-what?"

Naruko grinned and gave Hana a quick kiss. "See you later lover" she whispered and strode off leaving a brightly blushing and rather flustered Hana standing at the entrance, trying to regain some form of conscious control over her body

"N-Naruko" she growled softly as she walked off, muttering under her breath about revenge despite the still fading blush on her cheeks.

"I can't wait for the test"

"Sasuke-kun will definitely pass!"

"He's so cool~"

"Troublesome"

"I know man, they just won't shut up"

"What did you say? Dog breath"

"What?"

Naruko stood outside the door to her 'classroom' listening to the multitude of different conversations as they intertwined and flowed around and through one another. She often found later that although she could remember what had been said precisely, she often struggled to place the meaning behind the phases and words said along with their context.

She opened the door and stepped into the room. Immediately all conversation stopped

"Who's that?" someone whispered

"Iruka-san" she said to the teacher, a young man with a scar running over the bridge of his nose

"Yes?"

"I'm here for the test"

Ah, okay then Uzumaki-san, if you could take a seat at the back by the window?"

"Very well"

She walked over to the seat at the back as people continued to whisper about her

"Uh, sensei?" a pink haired girl said as she put her hand up

"What is it Haruno-san?"

"Who's she?"

"Uzumaki-san, would you introduce yourself to the class?"

Naruko sighed and stood up again. "My name is Naruko Uzumaki, I am a year older than all of you" she said and sat back down

"But why is she taking the test? I've never seen her come in for class" a blonde haired girl sat next to the pink one asked

"Yeah, that hardly seemed fair" Kiba blurted out, Iruka sighed in what was probably annoyance

"Naruko-san is taking the test due to special circumstances at home" he said "now we will begin testing. Mizuki, could you please hand out the papers?" Iruka asked his aid who nodded and picked up the papers off of the desk before distributing them.

Naruko watched the others struggle with the test as they turned it over. Her own paper was finished in little under twenty minutes, much to the astonishment of the other students and Mizuki, though Iruka looked as though he knew about it already

"Are you finished Naruko-san?" he asked her cautiously

"Yes" she responded and as turned her paper over and sat back, intent on doing something fairly useful during the next forty minutes of time they all had

"Alright then class" Iruka called out after the papers had been gathered "we'll be heading outside for the physical portion of this test. Please follow Mizuki"

Mizuki led the class outside while Naruko held back

"Naruko-san" Iruka said as he walked beside her

"Iruka-san"

"I wish you'd call me sensei"

"Why? I taught myself everything I know, you didn't"

"Well, yeah, but still..."

"There aren't enough people in this year"

"I know"

"Still, I'm grateful for you arguing my case to the Hokage"

"No please, it was the least I could do after you helped me like that"

"If you say so"

They arrived at the edge of the academy grounds, the dust swirled as the kids moved to line up

"Uchiha Sasuke" Mizuki called out and the Uchiha heir stepped up to the line, his two fan girls shouting wildly about his apparent greatness.

Naruko hated people like them. The two girls were Haruno Sakura and Ino Yamanaka, the latter being part of a small but rather important clan, and the boy they were boasting about was someone who Naruko had little patience for. The last of his blood loyal to Konoha the councils had both bent over backwards on numerous occasions to make sure he was kept content so he wouldn't leave. Numerous backroom deals had been made to facilitate this, all of which Naruko had information on or about, she could sink quite a few people with the blackmail material she had in her possession.

She watched the boy achieve a perfect score in the eyes of the girls as they shouted in jubilation at his 'victory' over everyone else in the class

"Uzumaki Naruko" Mizuki called out as she approached the line

"She won't beat Sasuke

"Yeah, she's nobody"

She sighed to herself as she took out enough kunai and settled into a comfortable stance

"When you're ready Naruko-san" Iruka said and Naruko moved, her arms gliding as her wrists flicked several times in quick succession. The crowd was left in silence

"Perfect score" Iruka said as Mizuki noted it down. The other watched her in awe as she sat down beneath a tree and closed her eyes to relax for a few moments.

"You're pretty good"

"If you say so"

Naruko opened her eyes to find two boys standing over her, both were clan heirs

"Troublesome. I'm Shikamaru Nara and he's Choji Akimichi" Shikamaru said as he pointed to the other boy who was munching on a bag of chips, he nodded to her

"Nice to meet you" he said before taking another handful of crisps

"It's strange" Shikamaru said as he sat down beside Naruko

"What is?"

"We've never heard of you and yet Iruka-sensei acts as though he's known you for years and lets you participate in our exam despite not officially being a student"

"It's not unusual, it's happened before in this village, just not for a time. It used to be quite customary for clans to train their children themselves and then send them off for the exam at the local academy; the new laws changed all that though"

"Hmm"

"So who trained you Uzumaki-san" Choji asked her, having finished his snack for the moment

"I trained myself using books from the library and watching other ninja's train. It's surprising how lax people are when they feel comfortable"

"Huh, what about the clans?"

"What about them? I can't copy any of their techniques even if I wanted to"

"Oh"

The three sat in fairly companionable silence until everyone was called up again for the combat test, sparing against Mizuki.

"Naruko-san" Iruka said, motioning for her to go first rather than Sasuke as usual. She stepped into the ring, her fingerless gloves still in place as she slipped into a fairly basic but stable stance that the academy taught all its students.

"Begin" Iruka said sharply and Naruko moved, feet shifting instinctively as Mizuki also moved forwards with a loose strike towards her midsection, she deflected the arm outwards and pushed one foot forwards causing him to shift his own weight to counter her rather than fall over as he shifted around her. She followed him, blocking another strike to her midsection before lashing out with her own strike to his face. He blocked and counter-attacked, pulling her towards him as his fist once again moved to strike her midsection causing her to moved to one side and drip while pulling her own hand free while spinning, forcing him to move back.

"Stop" Iruka said and they both halted mid-strike and settled back before bowing to one another

"Very good" Mizuki said as he stepped out of the ring along with Naruko

"Wow" Kiba said as she passed, not noticing the small smirk on her face.

The last part of the test was something so laughably simple that Naruko struggled to not simply walk out and ignore the last part

"Naruko-san" Iruka called out and she stood before moving before him and Mizuki

"Basic three?" she asked and he nodded as she sighed before perfectly performing all three techniques without a hitch

"Very good" Mizuki said, sounding more and more impressed "top marks"

"Well done, please take a head-band" Iruka said, motioning to the numerous Konoha head-bands on the table. She picked one up and tied it round her left arm before walking back to sit in her temporary seat next to the window.

One by one the students either passed or failed until ten of them were left including Naruko

"Well done all of you" Iruka said while smiling proudly at them all "I am proud to have taught you, well, most of you" he said while looking pointedly at Naruko who smirked slightly "please return here tomorrow to receive your team placements. Dismissed" he told them all before packing up along with Mizuki as the others all left.

Naruko was pleasantly surprised that Mizuki hadn't tried anything against her during the exams. Whether it was her own disinformation that had changed his opinion of her or what she was unaware but it didn't change the overall outcome.

Tenten sighed to herself as she made her way home from training with her team, though torture was more adequate in describing what her sensei made the team go through each and every day. Not that her other two teammates seemed to mind.

Her apartment was in the slightly less well off part of the town, not far from that other apartment block where Broker lived. It had taken her quite a while to save up for it and she was glad with what she had now.

She opened the door to her apartment and slipped into the darkened hallway, sighing as she slipped her shoes off and walked into the living and flipped the light on only to give a startled cry when she saw Broker sitting on her window sill

"Hello Tenten-chan"

"B-Broker-san" Tenten stuttered "what are you doing here?"

"I came to see you, and get the stuff you promised me"

"Ah"

"But for now I'll let you bathe and change. Food?"

"Ah? Oh, yes please"

Tenten quickly showered and changed before walking out into her living room to find a meal already there

"How?"

Broker smirked and seemed to laugh if the shaking of her shoulders were any indication. "I thought you might be hungry so I took the liberty of bringing something with me"

"I see"

"How have you been Tenten-chan?" Broker asked as Tenten sat opposite the hooded woman

"Been better"

"Team training?"

"How...?" Tenten trailed off when she remembered who she was speaking to and shook her head instead

"Hmm, did you hear? All the exam students passed this year, though apparently there was a late entry"

"Really?" Tenten asked as she ate while watching Broker

"Hmm, Uzumaki Naruko arrived just as they were about to start"

"That's odd"

"Only a bit. Besides that, I'm sure they won't be a challenge for your team, given how experienced they are"

"Maybe"

"You don't sound too sure of yourself" Broker said as she ate, her hand a blur as she snatched piece after piece of food, never revealing her face to the girl in front of her

"Well" Tenten said while scratching her cheek "Lee and Neji have kind of been at each other's throats recently"

"Oh? Are you sure you be telling me that?"

"I trust you not to betray us"

"Hmm, I'm flattered, though some might call you naive"

"And you?"

"As I said I'm flattered, besides I don't betray valued informers" she said as she finished the last bit of her meal while Tenten was barely half way through her own.

"Right. Actually, now that I think about it, how did you get into my house? The window?"

"Hmm, not telling" Broker said, chuckling to herself at Tenten's put out expression

"When did you get in?"

"Hmm, a few hours ago"

"Huh? What were you doing then?"

"Looking"

"Huh?" Tenten asked, her face going paling

"You know, I never would of pinned you for the type to wear black lace" Broker said to herself, tapping her chin and ignoring Tenten's growing blush "your boyfriend would pay a small fortune for that information I bet"

"You-"

"I wonder what he'd give for it"

"I can't believe you-"

"Maybe he'd sell his soul. I can think of several men in the village who'd love to know this

"did that to me-"

"Maybe I'll give it to them instead, make things interesting"

"Without asking"

"Huh, so you would have told me if I asked?"

Tenten blushed bright red and nearly choked on her food at the blunt question while Broker chuckled at her expense

"I hate you sometimes"

"I'm only teasing; it'll stay between me and you I promise. Now then, about that information"

"Oh, here"

Tenten pulled out a few papers and handed them to Broker who scanned over them. Tenten took the moment to look over Broker carefully, noticing her relatively slight build but other than that she could make out nothing distinguishing.

"Thank you Tenten-chan. I will take my leave of you then, I apologise for staying so long" she said, bowing her head as she stood and walked over to the door

"No way" Tenten whispered to herself as Broker removed a key identical to her own from her pocket

"You should be more careful where you lose things, bye"

She walked out, leaving a blushing Tenten to sit there and stew about how she had just been embarrassed beyond all belief.

It was dark by the time Naruko arrived back at her apartment having just visited Tenten. She slipped in through the door and, after making sure she had disarmed the traps, made her way up to the third floor of the apartment block and slipped inside her room after re-engaging all of the traps present in the block of flats.

She sighed to herself as she looked at the small apartment that she called home before moving around while getting ready for bed.

A knock on the door brought her out of her musings

"Who is it?" she asked, altering her voice in case

"Naruko-chan?"

"Hana?" she responded as she moved over to the door and opened it to see the young woman standing in front of her

"Um, hi?" Hana said sounding shy

"Why are you here?" Naruko said as she moved away from the door and picking up a pile of dishes that she placed into her sink

"I wanted to see you" Hana said, blushing as Naruko smiled softly

"Oh, is that all?" she asked as she motioned for Hana to come in

"Yeah"

"What about Tsume-chan?"

"She had a council meeting today along with dealing with some merchants, so she's tired"

"Hmm, so it's just you"

"Yeah"

Naruko sighed. "I don't think she'll be overly thrilled by this"

Naruko sat on the sofa and sighed as she felt the tension leave her frame

"Are you okay Naruko-chan?" Hana asked as she sat next to her mate

"Yeah, those exams were easy but still, this whole thing annoys me"

Hana put her head in Naruko's lap and huffed. "You don't want to be a ninja then?"

"It's not like that" Naruko replied as she stroked Hana's hair gently "it's just that I know how the Hokage will try to play this"

"The Hokage?"

"Yeah, the other problem is that even if I get on a team it'll be extremely hard for me to keep up with what I'm doing at the moment"

"Hmm, why do you say 'if'?" Hana questioned as she closed her eyes and relaxed against her lover

"Because each team is three people and there were ten people in the graduating class this time" Naruko explained as she watched Hana's peaceful expression

"Can't you have one to one?" she asked

"Probably not. Someone would have to be willing to do it and also be of Jonin rank; on top of that I'd need permission from a clan head and probably a couple of civilian merchants as well to cement it"

"What about me?" Hana asked, her voice a bit slurred from how relaxed she was becoming

"Hmm, you're a jonin"

"I was offered the position but turned it down originally"

"If you don't want it then don't, I'll find another way" Naruko told her firmly while reinforcing her arms with chakra and lifting her up and moving to her bed where she lay the girl down

"No..." Hana said softly before Naruko kissed her gently

"Get some sleep, we'll talk about it in the morning"

"Kay" Hana replied softly as she fell asleep while Naruko shook her head slightly and, after undressing both herself and Hana, climbed into bed with her.

"Are you sure?"

"Of course I am, I want to help you"

Naruko was sitting at her table while Hana busied herself in the kitchen. She had been surprised when she had woken up that morning to find Hana cooking something for her despite Hana not needing to be up for another couple of hours at best.

Naruko was working out the composition of the teams, and based on that was guessing what teachers they would be assigned, if only to not have to pay some random person to give her all the details. She enjoyed this kind of work in the morning, finding it usually got her mind working and helped her sometimes make sense of pieces of information that sometimes didn't seem to fit together.

"Here you go Naruko-chan" Hana said suddenly as she put Naruko's food in front of her, being careful not to impede her work

"Thank you Hana-chan" Naruko said, turning to give Hana a quick but passionate kiss that surprised the girl who blushed prettily

"Y-your welcome" she replied as she got her own food and sat opposite of Naruko who was eating with one hand and writing with the other

"Wow" Hana said, quite amazed at the feat of dexterity

"Hmm?" Naruko said, looking up at Hana

"Well, that" Hana said, pointing to what Naruko was doing

"Oh, I've always been quite dexterous"

"Really?"

"Yeah"

"What are you doing then?"

"Finishing up this report on the new teams, no doubt several people will come by today asking for the information"

"Why?"

"Bets probably, some might even be the sensei's of other teams, they usually like my tactical views of the teams"

"I see"

"I'd better get going before I'm late"

Naruko stood up and put her dish into the sink before tilting Hana's head back and kissing her passionately, leaving the woman short of breath

"Tell your mother that I need to speak with her in a little while okay?" she said before grabbing her gloves and jacket and disappearing out of the door.

The classroom was surprisingly quiet given what was happening today. Everybody looked at least slightly excited about the announcement of the teams, even if one or two of them could guess the composition of the teams already.

"I will now announce the teams" Iruka said

Naruko was seated at the back of the room, her attention was focused on the scene outside of the window rather than what was going on within the room itself. Today was going to be one hell of a day for all involved, whether they liked it or not. The teachers' voice disappeared from her hearing as she watched a pair of birds outside swoop and dance in the morning air.

"Uzumaki Naruko" he eventually called out. She turned to him, already knowing full well what he was about to say

"There are too many candidates this year, and as such you have been placed in reserve to await placement"

"But Sensei" Sakura said as he raised her hand "I thought it was always the lowest went with the two highest scoring candidates, and as Uzumaki-san hasn't been here before she should have the lowest score"

"Correct Sakura-san, however, Naruko has been handing in assignments and doing tests within her own time, so in actual fact she has tied with Sasuke for the highest scoring candidate"

The class looked at Naruko in shock and awe, Sasuke glared faintly at her; obvious feeling as though his position of superiority was threatened by her. Not realising she had little want for such things, hell, in her line of work remaining as inconspicuous as possible was usual the long term goal which usual meant being careful to not cultivate fame as much as possible.

Naruko strode towards the Hokage tower with a look of thunder on her face. She was annoyed, extremely annoyed, despite the fact that she had known he'd pull something along these lines it didn't mean she wasn't any more irritated with the man.

She strode into the Hokage tower and marched up to the Hokage's office

"E-excuse me?" the receptionist said, a young girl in her mid-twenties with short brown hair and hazel eyes

"Yes?" Naruko responded, being careful to keep her voice level as she glared at the door to the Hokage's office

"What are you here for?" the woman asked as a matter of course

"To see the Hokage" Naruko replied bluntly

"Um, he has a genin team in there with him right now..." the woman trailed off at Naruko's look

"I won't interfere with whatever their doing" she said and the woman nodded slowly and the two Chunin guards by the great oak door that led into the man's office relaxed and allowed Naruko in

"Well done team te-"

"Sir" Naruko barked as she entered, her face a mask of fury that made the Hokage gulp

"W-what is it, Naruko-chan?"

"You know damn well what I'm here about" she hissed, hands on his desk as she leant into his personal space

"Do I?" he responded as he collected himself and fixed her with a cold glare, she stared right back unflinchingly

"You failed to instate me onto a team, despite the fact I achieved grades equal to the apparent Uchiha prodigy" she said coldly as team ten glanced at one another

"There were too many..."

"Don't give me that crap; I should have been placed on a team. You have placed you future security at risk with this publicity stunt"

"What 'publicity stunt'?"

"You have restricted 'the demons' growth" Naruko said and the Hokage's eyes widened

"N-no, wait a minute"

"This conversation is over. I will be appearing before the council tomorrow, I suggest you're ready with whatever excuses you've cooked up"

She turned sharply on her heal and brushed past team ten, her eyes meeting Tenten's who stared at her as she strode of the tower, a kind of cold anger now burning inside of her as she walked towards her apartment, her head churning with ideas on how to exact her revenge upon the man who was seeking to hold her within his power.

"What did you want to talk with me about?"

"It's to do with my current position"

"You mean being a genin?"

"Yes"

Naruko was sitting opposite Tsume at her table, her finger was tapping the table, a sure sign of her irritation, as Tsume watched her mate curiously while Hana busied herself in the kitchen

"What about it?" Tsume asked Naruko who sighed

"I need to quit" she told her

"What?" both mother and daughter shouted together

"Why?" Tsume asked

"Because the reason I wasn't given a position on the team is due to my current business"

"You mean collecting and selling information"

"Yes. It puts me in an awkward position, you see, as he wants to restrict my movement as much as possible"

"Why?" Hana asked

"To prevent me from gaining influence outside Konoha in her allies and enemies alike, if I could do that, then he would literally be unable to touch me for fear of me bringing the world down around him"

"I see" Tsume said as she sighed and rested her chin on her hand "and so you want me to not only invite you into tomorrow's council session, but also vouch for your removal? I don't know if I can do that"

Naruko frowned and looked distinctly put out at the reply from her lover. "I see" she said bluntly. Tsume looked surprised by Naruko's reaction.

"What about becoming an apprentice to me?" Hana asked both her mother and lover, Tsume looked at her

"You're not a jonin" she said and Hana laughed shyly

"Well, I kinda am now" she responded and Tsume blinked while Naruko sighed to herself

"There are two options here, either you kick me off of the program or I join Hana as an apprentice with the approval of two civilian members either way"

"How are you going to get that?"

"My reach goes further than you might think and quite a few people owe me favours, including a number of highly influential merchants"

"I see, well, if you apply to go with Hana then I'm fine with that" Tsume said. Hana grinned. Naruko sighed and cracked her neck

"You okay Naruko-chan?" Hana asked as she began to rub Naruko's shoulders, eyes widening at how tense she was

"Yeah, this whole thing is just annoying me"

"Hmm" Tsume hummed with lidded eyes and Naruko raised an eyebrow at her as she felt Tsume's foot run up and down her leg

"Let us help you with that then" Tsume suggested rather openly

"Yeah Naruko-chan, let us help" Hana whispered huskily into Naruko's ear before softly biting it, causing Naruko to stiffen up and then wince as she felt a stab of pain go through where Hana was pressing.

"Ah, sorry" Hana said when she saw the pained look on Naruko's face pulling her hands away from her lovers shoulders

"If we're going to do this, then can we at least do it in the bedroom" she told them, making both the woman grin lustfully at her, not that the look fazed her in the slightest.

Naruko stood up before either woman could make a move and engaged Hana in a searing kiss that left the young woman short of breath. Tsume moved towards them and was grabbed by Naruko who pulled her closer before kissing her hotly as well while the hand holding Hana began to gently caress her back, making her gasp in pleasure as that familiar heat began to consume her.

Naruko pulled away from her kiss with Tsume before moving away from both of them and walking towards her bedroom, swinging her hips as she felt the two women gaze lustfully after her before almost running after her as she walked into her bedroom and stood before her bed.

Tsume got to Naruko first, ignoring the faint smirk on the girls lips and she once again claimed her mates lips in an intense kiss, submitting almost immediately as Naruko assaulted her mouth with her tongue, caressing hers as she did so.

Naruko reached out and grabbed Hana while she kissed Tsume and pulled the woman closer to her before her hand latched onto the girls firm ass and began to massage her firm flesh with a strong pressure that made Hana moan and push back against the hand while Tsume pulled back from her kiss to pull off her shirt, revealing her naked breasts, before she dived back in, Naruko's hand running up and down her back with a feather light touch that made her shiver.

Naruko turned and lightly pushed Tsume back, causing the woman to call gently onto the bed, her breasts swinging hypnotically as she did so. Naruko smiled at her before pulled Hana close and kissing her with equal Passion, both her hands occupying the woman's bottom as Hana clutched at her shirt, her knees going weak from the intensity of her lovers kiss. Naruko purred into the kiss as she continued to massage Hana's ass, pulling her closer until their bodies were flush against one another.

Tsume whimpered wantonly as she watched this happen. Naruko pulled back from her kiss with Hana and sat on the bed, pulling Tsume onto her lap she removed her won shirt, though left the bindings on, while she kissed the woman, one hand keeping her close while the other pulled Hana down onto the bed and gentle tugged on the hem of her shirt, prompting Hana to remove it for her lover.

Tsume shivered as she sat on Naruko's lap, she could feel her lovers' erection through the fabric of their clothes and it made her honey just thinking about what she could do to Naruko.
